Scaleway.com is a European cloud provider, launched as a subsidiary of the French iliad group. The company specializes in IaaS solutions: virtual machines, bare-metal, containers, and object storage, targeting developers and startups. Services are designed for typical infrastructure tasks: high-load websites, CI/CD pipelines, test environments, small corporate projects, and HPC tasks.
Security
Basic DDoS filtering is enabled by default and operates at the network level. Backups are performed daily with copies stored for 7 days; the service cost depends on disk volume and can be connected directly from the panel in a couple of clicks. Authorization logs are available through the console, although their retention period is not specified in public sources.
Pricing Policy
The provider operates in a flexible pricing segment: the minimum billing starts from one hour of usage, and the price is fixed for the selected rental period. A permanent discount applies for monthly payments, and prices for additional IP addresses and subnets are listed in the price list upfront, without hidden fees. Bare-metal and GPU servers are placed in a separate line and designed for tasks where performance, not minimum cost, is the priority.
Infrastructure
Virtual servers are deployed on KVM, ensuring instance isolation and stable resource allocation. The specifications emphasize the use of NVMe drives and the absence of overselling. Network capabilities include ports up to 10 Gbit/s with unlimited traffic, and an upgrade to 25 Gbit/s is available for an additional fee if needed. Datacenters
The provider's infrastructure is distributed across three European locations — in France, the Netherlands, and Poland. All facilities meet Tier III standards and are equipped with redundant power supplies backed by diesel generators. Latency within Europe remains low: around 8 ms to Frankfurt, approximately 18 ms to London, and within 35–45 ms to Moscow. Server migration between regions is not automated: if needed, you will have to deploy a new instance and migrate data manually. A hot standby is not advertised in the lineup, but when using multiple machines, the provider helps set up a cluster configuration.
